Q:How are probiotics made and where are they sourced from?

A:Commercially used probiotic bacteria strains can have a variety of origins including human, animal and plant sources.
Bacteria are initially isolated from their origin and then cultured (grown) using specific nutrients suitable for each strain. These beneficial bacteria thrive and multiply from the addition of these nutrients via a process called fermentation. The probiotic bacteria are then rapidly frozen (freeze-dried) under strict controlled conditions.

Q:Do high temperatures affect stability of the bacteria?

Does temperature in transit affect product?

A:The probiotics are generally stable even with slight fluctuations of temperature above 30 degrees. It could pose more of a problem with prolonged exposure to higher temperatures.

Q:Do probiotics only benefit digestive health?

A:Probiotics not only benefit digestive health, but also confers other health benefits, such as supporting the immune system. There are also on-going research with mental health, weight loss etc.

Q:Isn't it true that Probiotics need to be refrigerated or they will die?

A:With appropriate packaging and manufacturing techniques, probiotics do not need to be refrigerated. Our probiotics undergo a freeze-dried process to ensure they are in a dormant stage till they enter our body.

Q:Why do we need so many different strains of probiotics?

A:It’s really important to remember that not all strains of probiotics are the same. Each is unique and serves specific purpose(s) in your body. To improve your overall health and well-being , you may consider replenishing different bacteria strains as our health is linked to the diversity of our gut microbiome.

Q:How often should I consume probiotics?

A:Probiotics are considered transient bacteria and may disappear when not consumed regularly. If dietary intake is inadequate, daily consumption of probiotics is recommended to maintain a healthy intestinal environment.

Q:My probiotic product is still within its expiry date but has turned brown. I opened it 4 months ago.

A:The probiotic capsules need to be consumed within 3 months after opening, regardless of expiry date.

Q:How soon will I experience health benefits from taking probiotics?

A:The amount of time it takes to experience benefits from probiotics may vary with each individual as everyone is different in terms of health status and condition.

Q:Probiotic bacteria count diminishes over time. Will your probiotic product still contain the amount of probiotic stated on the label by the expiry date?

A:Probiotics do diminish over time, so to ensure Life-Space probiotics stay viable until the expiry date, we add an overage of bacteria to allow for a natural decline over time. However, the probiotic products do need to be stored at below 30 degrees and in a low humidity environment to ensure product integrity is maintained.

Q:Do Life-Space Probiotics meet Kosher and/or Halal certifications?

A:Life-Space probiotics are naturally sourced and are suitable for vegetarians, however Life-Space products are not Kosher or Halal certified.

Q:Powder clumps when mixing

A:Life-Space Probiotics contain prebiotic, which is a fibre substance.  This may lead to a tendency for the powder to clump together or to present with gel-like appearance when mixed with water.  However, this will not affect the quality or safety of the product. The following mixing method may enable better solubility: Sprinkle the powder into lukewarm water while stirring with a spoon at the same time.

Q:Amount of powder in the bottle seems less

A:Each jar is filled with powder by weight and not by volume and hence may appear different due to space variations that occurred during filling process.

Q:Missing capsules

(Please report to us via email with details of product and photo -

A:We apologise for the error in the number of capsules in the bottle which is due to a machinery fault. We will investigate the matter and adopt measures to prevent that from recurring.

Q:Why is there a smell when I opened up the probiotic?

A:An odour may be present naturally in the product from the probiotic and/or capsules. The odour could vary from batch to batch as probiotic bacteria are live organisms. The smell of the capsule has to be checked by the retention sample. If the jar has a strong smell, you can send it to us, if possible, and we can check it against our standard.

However, there had been previous feedback regarding smell of capsules and when investigated, the smell of the capsules was comparable to the standard we had.
